Awakening

Awakening

Awakening

Awakening,
the rose gently shakes off the dew
as it slowly opens.

The sun kisses the soft petals,
lifting off the remaining moisture,
leaving a warm air
and brightening the color.

The rose show it’s glory,
the beautiful colors,
soft and rich,
as the petals open wider to the noonday sun.

Through the afternoon
the rose lifts its face toward the rays of the sun,
following the track of the warmth
moving on its stem
from one horizon to the other,
until the evening.

As the sun settles behind the curve of earth,
the rose sags a bit on the stem.
The air cools,
the dew falls once again.
The petals hungrily sip at the moisture,
and fold a little to hold the precious dew drops.

Hope

~    ~    ~    ~

Hope

 Hope is
the life of a new baby.
A world that gives
such a precious life
can’t be bad.

Hope is
a sunset,
knowing a day is ended,
the mistakes over,
the worries at bay,
rest promised at hand.

Hope is
a sunrise,
a clean slate,
a chance to try again,
success in reach.

Hope is a friend who hears,
who is there,
who understands
 – or not –
and it doesn’t matter.

Hope is
a connection to God,
when life seems good or bad,
a tie that withstands
the sway,
fraying perhaps at times,
but never breaking.

Hope is
a belief that tomorrow
and the next tomorrow
and the one after that
hold promise.

Hope is
–– Life.

Dawn

~    ~    ~    ~

Dawn.
Peeping sunlight,
gentle colors,
promise of another day to do it all.

Dawn.
A new idea,
born for change,
a new horizon for growth.

Dawn.
A new era,
and awakening,
a chance for our world to become love.

Dawn.
Renewal,
resurgence,
replenishment,
rebeginning.

Hope.

Tears fell

~    ~    ~    ~

Tears fell.

Of course, tears fall many times,
many reasons,
but those were the hardest of all.

The first tears were bitter,
hot with sadness, wouldn’t end.

Next were tears of why,
full of disbelief.

Then with a flash of anger,
resignation,
brief.

Finally came the tears no one saw,
inside tears,
numbness,
raw,
silent,
blind.

One foot after another.
One day after another.
One tear after another.

Life goes on.

So do the tears.

Five sets of tears.

They never stop,
those inside tears.

Never.
